What is a bunion?
A bunion, or Hallux Abducto Valgus (HAV), is a progressive foot deformity where the big toe drifts toward the second toe, creating a painful bony lump on the side of the foot. Over time, the affected joint becomes misaligned, leading to pain, swelling, and difficulty finding comfortable footwear. While genetics and foot structure play a role, environmental factors like improper footwear and movement patterns can accelerate their progression.
Are you at risk?
- Do you have a visible bump forming on the inside of your big toe?
- Is walking or standing for long periods painful?
- Do your shoes feel tighter or rub against a swollen joint?
- Have you noticed toes overlapping or shifting?
- Do bunions run in your family?
If you answered yes to any of these, now is the time to act before the condition worsens.
